Gianluca Sodaro

Director

Gianluca was born in Sicily on Christmas Eve. 



He is a graduate of Milan’s Academy of Fine Arts and Design (NABA) and works in film and advertising.

Gianluca's first feature film Cuore scatenato (Raging Heart), which he co-wrote and directed, had it's US premiere at the International Miami Film Festival and received the award for “Best Cinematography” at the International Independent Film and Video Festival (NYIIFVF) in New York in 2008.

His most important short films to date are God's Got His Head in the Clouds (original music by Angelo Badalamenti), The Paladins of The Holy Providence and The Voice of My Beloved!.

They have been shown and won awards at a large number of festivals including Uppsala, Tampere, Palm Springs, Annecy, Huesca, Edinburgh, Newport Beach, Metz, Brisbane, Milan, Locarno, Stockholm, Turin and Berlin, to name just a few.

Gianluca worked as copywriter and TV commercial director in the Creative Department of Fox Channels Italy for three years, winning 3 Gold Awards, 2 Silver Awards and receiving 2 nominations at Promax BDA World and Europe. Gianluca adores the sound of cicadas.
